BPA, a synthetic estrogen used to harden plastic, can leach from containers into the food and drink that children consume. Extensive research has linked BPA to serious health problems such as early puberty, brain and heart disorders, and, in later life, prostate and breast cancer and infertility.
Environmental Working Group has tested consumer products such as receipts, food, infant formula and drink containers to see how much BPA they contain. We also tested the umbilical cord blood of 10 American newborns and found that babies are being polluted by BPA and other chemicals — while still in the womb.
Now is our chance to take some of this BPA off the market and protect our kids. The Toxin-Free Infants and Toddlers Act is only one signature away from becoming law.
